The arrows point at the grain boundaries where NW can be flexible to elastic structural deformation (c) and (d) show TEM images for large diameter Mo NWs (>15 nm) with significant surface roughness. The pore formation is clearly visible as hollow voids of various sizes that are incorporated in the bulk and the surface structures.
