Scheme of the fabrication method. Polystyrene-coated gold nanoparticles were deposited on silicon substrates using spin-coating. The generated highly ordered arrays of gold nanoparticles were thermally treated in order to remove the polymer matrix. Finally, the substrates were etched in a mixture of HF and H₂O₂ resulting in the formation of porous silicon.
