(a) In the absence of a SAW, the emission is restricted to the region close to the excitation spot and is polarized perpendicular to the nanowire axis. (b) Application of acoustic power of 12 dBm induces the transport of electrons and holes to a remote position R, where they recombine emitting light polarized mainly parallel to the nanowire axis.
